Is CafeSnap Legit? An Honest Answer

Short answer: yes. Longer answer: you should not have to take our word for it, so this page lays out exactly what we are, what we are not, how your money moves, and the risk factors we cannot remove. We wrote it because we would want to read it before paying a website we had never heard of.

What CafeSnap is

CafeSnap is an independent, automated booking concierge for the Pokemon Cafe in Osaka and Tokyo. We are a piece of software, run by one operator based in the UK, that competes in the cafe's 6pm Japan time release drops on behalf of paying customers and grabs the seat for them. The cafe now releases a full month of dates in a single bulk drop rather than opening dates daily, so between drops we watch for cancellation seats around the clock instead.

Concretely:

• We are an independent service, not a reseller.
• We charge a flat fee equivalent to GBP 8 per booking, shown and charged in your own local currency, regardless of party size up to 6 guests.
• We submit your real name and email to the cafe's booking form. The cafe-side reservation is in your name and is yours to attend.
• The cafe does not charge for the reservation itself (you only pay the cafe for food and merch on the day) - but at 6pm JST that free seat is gone in seconds. Our flat fee is for reliably winning that seat for you.

Why this is safe

Here is what makes booking through us low-risk, in plain terms:

• The reservation is genuinely yours. We submit your real name and email straight into the cafe's own booking form. The seat is registered to you, in your name, and you walk in and are seated like any other guest.
• One honest, flat price. A flat fee equivalent to GBP 8 covers your whole party (1 to 6 guests), shown and charged in your own currency before you pay. There is no markup on the seat, no per-person charge, and no surprise at checkout. The cafe does not sell tickets, so there is nothing to resell or inflate. You are simply paying us to win a free seat that disappears in seconds.
• You stay in control of your money. Payment runs through Stripe, you keep full chargeback rights, and if we do not secure a seat you are refunded automatically without having to ask.
• You always know who you are dealing with. One UK-based operator, a real website, Telegram and email support, and refund terms written in plain English. When you message support, you reach the person who runs it.

Two honest limits worth knowing up front: we book the best available match from the preferred times you give us, so we cannot promise one exact session; and our role ends once the seat is booked in your name, so we cannot contact the cafe for special requests on the day.

How we handle your money

This is the most important section, so we want to be precise.

• Payments go through Stripe Checkout. Stripe is one of the largest regulated payment processors in the world, used by Amazon, Google, Shopify, and millions of others.
• We never see or store your card number. When you click "pay", you are typing your card details directly into Stripe's hosted checkout, not into our website. We only receive a token from Stripe that confirms payment.
• You pay in your own local currency. The price is shown and charged in your currency (a flat fee equivalent to GBP 8) before you confirm, so there is normally no surprise bank conversion fee. The amount you see at checkout is the amount you pay.
• You retain full chargeback rights. Because the payment goes through Stripe, if anything goes wrong you can dispute the charge with your card issuer in the normal way. Stripe will hold us accountable.
• Refunds use the same Stripe rails. When we refund, the money goes back to the exact card you paid with. We cannot redirect it elsewhere.

Our refund policy

Two refund situations exist, both spelled out in plain English in our terms:

• If we cannot secure a seat by the day after your last preferred date passes, we issue a full automatic refund. You do not have to ask. Stripe sends the money back within 5 to 10 business days.
• If you cancel before we have secured your seat, a 10 percent processing fee (about GBP 1.50 equivalent, in your currency) is deducted to cover the Stripe fee we already paid. The rest comes back to your card. Once we have confirmed a booking at the cafe the service is delivered and the fee is non-refundable: cancelling a confirmed booking releases the cafe seat but does not return the fee.

We aim to send the failure refund within hours of the deadline passing. In practice it is usually within minutes. The cap is set so that even a slow weekend gives us plenty of margin.

Customer support

We answer messages on two channels:

• Telegram: @cafesnap_support_bot. This is the fastest path; we typically reply within an hour during UK waking hours.
• Email: bookings@cafesnapbot.com. Slightly slower, target reply within 24 hours.

We do not run a phone line. We do not have a chatbot pretending to be a person. When you message support, you are reaching the operator.

Risk factors we cannot remove

We want to be upfront about the things that can still go wrong, even when we do our job correctly.

Cafe-side cancellation

After we book a seat in your name, the cafe could in theory cancel the reservation. This is rare but it happens. Reasons we have seen:

• The cafe closes a session at short notice for staff reasons or maintenance.
• The cafe identifies a booking pattern they do not like and cancels.
• Date-specific closures the cafe announces after we have already booked.

If the cafe itself cancels or closes for its own reasons, for example a renovation or a short-notice session closure, that is outside our control and follows the cafe's own policy. Our fee covers securing your reservation, not the cafe's later decisions, and we will always help you contact the cafe. If we ever fail to secure your booking in the first place, that is always a full automatic refund.

The cafe's site goes down

Reserve.pokemon-cafe.jp occasionally has outages. If the site is down during a 6pm release drop, no booking service in the world can book for you. Releases now come roughly once a month rather than daily, so after a missed drop we keep scanning for cancellation seats on your preferred dates around the clock, and compete in the next monthly drop if your dates fall in it. If no seat is secured by the day after your last preferred date, the automatic refund triggers.

Last-minute changes you cannot reverse

Once we secure your booking and the confirmation email is sent, the service has been delivered and the cafe-side seat exists in your name. You can still release that seat through our site up to 10pm JST the night before your visit so it does not go to waste, but a confirmed booking is non-refundable: cancelling it frees the cafe seat without returning the fee. After 10pm JST the seat is held in your name and a no-show counts on your record at the cafe.

Why we built this

The operator built CafeSnap in 2024 after a family member could not get a Pokemon Cafe seat for a Japan trip and the alternatives were either expensive per-person pricing or marketplace sellers with no refund policy. The first version was a Python script for personal use. It worked, friends asked to use it, and it turned into a service.

We are bootstrapped, small, and not interested in fast growth at the expense of trust. If something goes wrong with your booking and our policy does not cover it, message the support line and we will work it out.
