Is CafeSnap Legit? An Honest Answer

Short answer: yes. Longer answer: you should not have to take our word for it, so this page lays out exactly what we are, what we are not, how your money moves, and the risk factors we cannot remove. We wrote this page because we would want to read it before paying GBP 8 to a website we had never heard of.

What CafeSnap is

CafeSnap is an independent, automated booking concierge for the Osaka Pokemon Cafe. We are a piece of software, run by one operator based in the UK, that competes in the cafe's daily 6pm Japan time booking wave on behalf of paying customers and grabs the seat for them.

Concretely:

• We are an independent service, not a reseller.
• We charge GBP 8 flat per booking, regardless of party size up to 6 guests.
• We submit your real name and email to the cafe's booking form. The cafe-side reservation is in your name and is yours to attend.
• The reservation at the cafe is free; the cafe does not charge for the seat, only for food and merchandise once you arrive.

What CafeSnap is not

We are also not:

• A reseller of tickets. The cafe does not sell tickets. There is nothing to mark up. Our fee covers the automation and refund guarantee, nothing else.
• A scalper. We do not block-buy seats and resell them. Each booking is tied to your real name and email, submitted directly to the cafe.
• An agent for the cafe. We cannot contact the cafe on your behalf for special requests. We just book the seat.
• A guarantee of a specific time slot. We book the best available match from your preferred times. We cannot promise an exact session.

How we handle your money

This is the most important section, so we want to be precise.

• Payments go through Stripe Checkout. Stripe is one of the largest regulated payment processors in the world, used by Amazon, Google, Shopify, and millions of others.
• We never see or store your card number. When you click "pay", you are typing your card details directly into Stripe's hosted checkout, not into our website. We only receive a token from Stripe that confirms payment.
• The transaction is in GBP. Your bank may show a small currency-conversion fee if you pay with a non-GBP card; that fee is set by your bank, not by us.
• You retain full chargeback rights. Because the payment goes through Stripe, if anything goes wrong you can dispute the charge with your card issuer in the normal way. Stripe will hold us accountable.
• Refunds use the same Stripe rails. When we refund, the money goes back to the exact card you paid with. We cannot redirect it elsewhere.

Our refund policy

Two refund situations exist, both spelled out in plain English in our terms:

• If we cannot secure a seat by the day after your last preferred date passes, we issue a full automatic refund. You do not have to ask. Stripe sends the money back within 5 to 10 business days.
• If you cancel an active booking yourself, a 10 percent processing fee (minimum GBP 1.50) is deducted to cover the Stripe fee we already paid. The rest comes back to your card.

We aim to send the failure refund within hours of the deadline passing. In practice it is usually within minutes. The cap is set so that even a slow weekend gives us plenty of margin.

Customer support

We answer messages on two channels:

• Telegram: @cafesnap_support_bot. This is the fastest path; we typically reply within an hour during UK waking hours.
• Email: bookings@cafesnapbot.com. Slightly slower, target reply within 24 hours.

We do not run a phone line. We do not have a chatbot pretending to be a person. When you message support, you are reaching the operator.

Risk factors we cannot remove

We want to be upfront about the things that can still go wrong, even when we do our job correctly.

Cafe-side cancellation

After we book a seat in your name, the cafe could in theory cancel the reservation. This is rare but it happens. Reasons we have seen:

• The cafe closes a session at short notice for staff reasons or maintenance.
• The cafe identifies a booking pattern they do not like and cancels.
• Date-specific closures the cafe announces after we have already booked.

If the cafe cancels your seat after we secure it, we refund you. No exceptions.

The cafe's site goes down

Reserve.pokemon-cafe.jp occasionally has outages. If the site is down during the 6pm wave, no booking service in the world can book for you. We will keep retrying on the next wave for any of your preferred dates, and if every wave passes without a seat, the automatic refund triggers.

Last-minute changes you cannot reverse

Once we secure your booking and the confirmation email is sent, the cafe-side seat exists in your name. You can cancel through our site (10 percent fee applies) up to 10pm JST the night before your visit. After that, the seat is held in your name and a no-show counts on your record at the cafe.

Why we built this

The operator built CafeSnap in 2024 after his sister could not get a Pokemon Cafe seat for a Japan trip and the existing options were either expensive per-person bots or sketchy Fiverr sellers. The first version was a Python script for personal use. It worked, friends asked to use it, and it turned into a service.

We are bootstrapped, small, and not interested in fast growth at the expense of trust. If something goes wrong with your booking and our policy does not cover it, message the support line and we will work it out.
