The five most common pain points

Across thousands of booking attempts, the same problems come up over and over.

  1. The time zone. The release is at 6pm Japan Standard Time, every day. That is 10am UK summer, 9am UK winter, 5am US East Coast, 2am US West Coast, 4am California, 7pm Sydney. Most travellers either set the alarm wrong or forget Japan does not observe daylight saving.
  2. The interface is partly in Japanese. Even on the English version of reserve.pokemon-cafe.jp some buttons, errors, and warnings stay in Japanese. Browser translation usually breaks the form. Trying to translate mid-booking costs you precious seconds.
  3. Seats sell out in seconds. Popular weekend slots are gone in under twenty seconds. There is no waiting list and no queue.
  4. The site shows a busy holding page right before 6pm. The cafe's site cannot handle the load just before release. The form looks broken, then suddenly works, then is sold out. Refresh aggressively at 5:59pm JST.
  5. An eight-step form on a clock. You have to pick a session, accept terms, enter party size, fill name and email, request an email verification code, paste the code in, accept terms again, and submit. Each step takes seconds you do not have.

Things that go wrong (and how to fix them)

The verification email never arrives

The cafe sends a 6-digit code to the email you typed in step 4. The code is what unlocks step 5. If it does not arrive within 60 seconds, you usually lose the slot. Common causes and fixes:

Payment declined at the cafe

The cafe does not charge for the reservation itself; payment happens in person for food and merchandise. If you are reading "payment declined" on the booking page, you are almost certainly on a third-party reseller site, not the official cafe. The official URL is reserve.pokemon-cafe.jp. If the URL is different, close the tab.

If your CafeSnap payment fails on our checkout page, this is usually one of: card flagged for international purchase (call your bank to whitelist), insufficient currency conversion buffer, or wrong CVV. Stripe will show the exact reason and let you retry.

The date has already passed in Japan time

The booking window is exactly 31 days ahead in Japan local time. If today is the 1st in your time zone, but the 2nd in Japan, the window has rolled forward. You will see one day fewer in the calendar than you expected. Always check the date in Japan before you panic.

The form crashed mid-submission

Reserve.pokemon-cafe.jp drops sessions when overloaded. You will see a generic "system error" or be returned to the start of the flow. The cafe does not save partial bookings. You have to restart from step 1.

If you started with a verified email and got cut off, that verification stays valid for about 5 minutes. You can sometimes skip the email step on the retry. Sometimes you cannot.

You can see seats but cannot complete the booking

This is the classic "the seat is reserved for another customer who has not yet completed their booking" hold pattern. The cafe holds the seat for the first person who clicks it for up to 60 seconds. If they finish, the seat is theirs. If they abandon, the seat returns to the pool. You have to wait it out or pick another session.

Refund policies

The cafe's refund policy

The cafe does not charge for the reservation itself (you only pay the cafe for food and merch on the day), so on the cafe side there is nothing to refund. The scarce thing is the seat, not the money: at 6pm JST it is gone in seconds. If you do not attend, the seat is simply lost. You can cancel any reservation through the cafe's site up to 10pm JST the night before your visit, which releases the seat back to the public pool. After 10pm JST, the seat is held in your name and counts against your record if you no-show.

CafeSnap's refund policy

We charge a flat fee equivalent to GBP 8 for our booking service, shown and charged in your own local currency before you pay. Two refund paths exist:

What name should I book under?

Use the name of someone in your party who will actually be at the cafe on the day. The cafe staff look up your reservation by name (or by the cafe-issued reference code we send you), so put down a name you'll all remember.

Practical notes:

Group size considerations

The cafe allows 1 to 6 guests per reservation. There is no way to book a larger party in one go. A few practical notes:

Quick FAQ

Can I book multiple dates as backup?

Through us, yes. Pick all the dates that work for your trip. We attempt them in order and stop as soon as one succeeds. Through the official site, you can only book one date at a time.

Can I change the date after booking?

The cafe does not allow date changes. You have to cancel and rebook, which means competing again. If you booked through us, contact us on Telegram before cancelling so we can attempt the new date for you.

Is Tokyo Pokemon Cafe available?

The Tokyo Pokemon Cafe (Nihonbashi) reopens June 17, 2026 after its renovation. We book both Osaka and Tokyo. Reservations for Tokyo's first three weeks (June 17 - July 7) were all released together at 18:00 JST on May 17, 2026. That release has already happened and those dates are now open and largely sold out, so the realistic route is a cancellation pickup: tell us your Tokyo date and our bot watches around the clock and grabs the first opening the moment one frees up. From July 8, 2026 Tokyo reverts to the normal daily release, exactly like Osaka.

Do you collect my phone number?

No. The cafe booking form is email-only. We only collect your name and email address. Telegram is our preferred channel for support questions.

What time should I arrive at the cafe?

Aim to be at the cafe entrance 10 minutes before your session. The Osaka cafe is on the 9th floor of Daimaru Shinsaibashi (1-7-1 Shinsaibashisuji, near Shinsaibashi Station on the Midosuji Line). The Tokyo cafe is on the 5th floor of Takashimaya SC East Building, Nihonbashi. The lifts get busy around session start times. Per the cafe's policy, reservations are auto-cancelled if you are more than 10 minutes late.

When should you use a booking bot?

Manual booking works if you are awake at 6pm JST, have fast internet, and your dates are flexible. If any of those is missing, a Pokemon Cafe booking bot or reservation service is worth the flat fee (equivalent to GBP 8, charged in your own local currency). If the cafe is already sold out and you can't get a reservation for the dates you need, a service like CafeSnap keeps trying the daily release and chasing cancellation seats for you, for both the Osaka and Tokyo Pokemon Cafe, instead of you refreshing the page yourself.
